My projects at Mount Pleasant have been completed. The chimneypiece frieze and tympanum applique have had two layers of oil paint applied, a primer coat and top coat that is close to, but does not exactly match the color of the rest of the woodwork of the room which was re-painted in 1994. The new paint is also slightly more light reflective or glossy and is a closer match to the gloss of the existing interior paint applied in 1975 than the re-painting in the drawing room which appears quite flat for an oil paint.

The story of the restoration process and additional photographs can be viewed here.

The next few posts will deal with research projects at Mount Pleasant that took place after the chimneypiece restoration was completed.
